Matthew is a professional cinematographer and videographer trained at the acclaimed NYU Tisch Institute for Film & Television with over 25 years of industry experience worldwide including New York City, Los Angeles, and the San Francisco Bay Area. As an inveterate traveler, Matthew approaches the craft of filmmaking and cinematography as an adventure. He loves to explore new environments, immerse himself in diverse cultures, and share unique stories with the world.

His most recent documentary project for ABC News Studio, “Mormon No More,” was released on Hulu in 2022. This intimate series covers the journey of two formerly Mormon women as they learn to live their truth and form a new life together in the months leading up to their wedding.

Matthew was Director of Photography for the Emmy award winning HBO documentary, “Assault in the Ring,” and for the Emmy nominated documentary, “White People.” He worked closely with activist Jose Antonio Vargas for both those projects and is widely recognized for his ability to tell intimate and compelling stories. Other documentary credits include ESPN 30 for 30, NBC, Sundance, CNN Intl, MTV, and Hulu.

Matthew’s most recent television series, “The Playboy Murders,” is airing on Discovery ID in 2023. The show’s producer, Holly Madison, brought Matthew on board to shoot her key interview. Holly was seen on Entertainment Tonight with Matthew, enamored with the lighting, look, and feel of the footage. Matthew’s television experience ranges from true crime (Oxygen, Discovery ID), home shows (HGTV), pro athletes (ESPN), to ensemble shows (Bravo). This wide range of projects showcases his ability to adjust creatively to different styles and sets. With past technical experience as a gaffer, Matthew knows how to expertly light any situation or style. His proficiency with lighting differentiates his work.

Matthew has also brought his cinematic eye to national commercial campaigns and branded content for brands like Kate Spade, Adidas, Crown Royal, JC Penney, and State Farm for companies like Time Inc/Meredith, and Vayner Media. Based in Silicon Valley, Matthew has worked with many high end corporate shoots for companies like Google, Samsung, CrowdStrike, Alliance Bernstein, Tudor Investments, and Pinterest.
